A contract management template for Excel and Google Sheets.
A register with the columns that matter: counterparty and relationship, agreement and source link, owner, term end, notice wording, latest-notice date, review state and amendments. No signup to download. It does not phone home.
Plain CSV. Opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers. One fictional example row included.
The columns
Fourteen columns, and why each one is there.
| Column | Why it is there |
|---|---|
| Agreement | A short title you would say out loud, not the filename. |
| Counterparty | The other organisation, spelled the way they spell it. |
| Relationship | Customer, vendor or other. Same register, different obligations. |
| Type | SOW, service agreement, subscription, order form, contractor agreement… |
| Source link | Where the signed original lives. One link per governing document. |
| Owner | A person, not a team. When they leave, this column is the handover list. |
| Start | Effective date from the document, as written. |
| Term end | When the current term ends. Not the notice date. |
| Notice wording | The clause, quoted. Sixty days is not the same as two months. |
| Latest notice date | Your calculation, with the convention noted. Review it before relying on it. |
| Internal reminder | When you want to be told, well before the latest notice date. |
| Review state | Confirmed against the source, needs review, or missing a document. |
| Amendments | Each amendment, its date, and which fields it changed. |
| Notes | Everything else. Keep it short; long notes hide decisions. |
How to use it
Five habits that keep a spreadsheet honest.
- 01
Habit 1
Fill one row per agreement. Put amendments in the Amendments column, not as new rows.
- 02
Habit 2
Quote the notice clause rather than paraphrasing it; the paraphrase is where errors start.
- 03
Habit 3
Calculate the latest notice date yourself and note the convention (calendar days, business days). The notice-date calculator on this site shows the arithmetic.
- 04
Habit 4
Put a person in Owner. Review the sheet whenever someone leaves.
- 05
Habit 5
Mark Review state honestly. 'Needs review' is more useful than a confident guess.

The sample agreement shows what the same register looks like with sources, confirmations, amendments and owners connected.
